Meaning:

1. Remover of All Fear

I bow to Shiva Shankara,
who is surrounded by Indra, the devas, and the chief beings,
who wears serpents as ornaments around his neck,
who removes all fear.

He is worshipped by all worlds,
brings joy to all devotees,
rides the bull Nandi,
is eternal and beyond everything that exists.

2. Supreme Protector Beyond All

I bow to Shiva Shankara,
who is the protector of those who have no protector,
who shines like the radiant sun,
who is praised by wise brahmanas.

He is dear to Vinayaka,
destroys evil in the world,
has no superior,
is the supreme Lord, beyond any other authority.

3. Nectar of Wisdom and Liberation

I bow to Shiva Shankara,
who holds the Pinaka bow,
who quickly destroys sins,
who is attained through sincere effort,
and who is the nectar that frees one from worldly suffering.

He bears the sacred river Ganga,
is beyond all qualities,
grants boons,
and gives wisdom to seekers.

4. Ocean of Compassion

I bow to Shiva Shankara,
who is an ocean of compassion,
who is eternal and unseen,
who is full of grace and shines brilliantly.

He is worshipped by sages,
respected by the devas,
has a perfectly peaceful mind,
and wears the sky itself as his garment.

5. Ancient Source of Bliss and Light

I bow to Shiva Shankara,
who destroys ignorance,
who is the most ancient reality,
who removes suffering,
and who is the source of happiness.

He shines like molten gold,
grants prosperity,
is self-existent,
and carries the trident.

6. Eternal Lord Who Conquers Death

I bow to Shiva Shankara,
whose eyes are the moon, sun, and fire,
who is the husband of Uma,
who has matted hair,
who is the eternal Shiva.

He is the supreme among devas,
has a vast cosmic form,
destroys death itself,
and gives joy to devotees.

7. Auspicious Cosmic Lord

I bow to Shiva Shankara,
who is the leader of all worlds,
who governs everything,
who wears the cool autumn moon on his head,
and who brings auspiciousness.

He is the Lord of the devas,
the swift protector,
the great cosmic dancer,
the supreme Maheshvara.

8. Phala Shruti (benefits of reciting)

Whoever recites this hymn to Shiva regularly
obtains virtue, grace, and noble reputation.

They gain strength, wealth, and good relationships,
and ultimately attain the eternal state of Shiva
and live in joy forever.

Core essence of this stotram in one line:

Shiva is the fearless protector, destroyer of ignorance, giver of wisdom, and the eternal supreme reality who grants both worldly well-being and spiritual liberation.
