Benefits of Worshiping Lord Narasimha

श्रेष्ठः – प्रशस्यतमः - most excellent, most eminent, most praiseworthy because he is always praised.

यो ह वै ज्येष्ठं च श्रेष्ठं च वेद ज्येष्ठश्च ह वै श्रेष्ठश्च भवति प्राणो वाव ज्येष्ठश्च श्रेष्ठश्च says Upanishad – same sequence as it is here – prana, jyeshtha and shreshtha.

Narasimha Purana chapter 34 talks about the results obtained by doing puja of Narasimha Bhagawan. When you take the nirmalya away from Bhagawan's idol and bathe Bhagawan with water, this is not the ceremonial snana, it is just washing with water after taking out nirmalya, all your papas start going. Do it with faith, keeping this in mind, then it will happen. Not only that, you get the punya of having taken bath in all the holy tirthas like Ganga, Kaveri, Godavari. Not only that, after your life on earth, you will go straight to Swarga and after enjoying there as long as you want, you will attain Vishnuloka, Vaikuntha and be there forever. The pada that scholars aspire for. Tadvishnoh paramam padam.

When you take akshata and flowers in your hand and say आगच्छ नरसिंह, नरसिंहं आवाहयामि, your papas keep on going. When you offer asana to the Lord, padya, arghya, achamaneeya, then you keep on becoming lighter and lighter, your papas of all the past births keep on going.

When you do his abhisheka with water and milk, you are guaranteed place in Vishnuloka. If you do the Lord's abhisheka with dadhi, curd, then you attain a divine body which even devas would worship, and in this body itself you would go to Vaikuntha. If you do his abhisheka with honey, you will go to the divine world of Agni Bhagawan, enjoy there first and then go to Vishnuloka. If you blow shankha and do his abhisheka with ghee, you will mount a vimana and go to Vaikuntha.

You should bathe him with panchagavya. The result will be eternal. Its result will never end. You should apply wheat flour all over the idol and wash it away with warm water. You will enjoy in Varuna loka and then go to Vaikuntha. You should rub his pada peetha with bilwa and wash it with warm water. All papas will go. If you want to attain Brahmaloka, bathe the Lord with water mixed with kusha grass and flowers.

Put gems in water and with that water do his abhisheka. You will attain Surya loka. Put gold in water and with that water do his abhisheka, you will go to Kubera loka. Mix karpoora and agaru in water and do the Lord's abhisheka. You will go to Indraloka. These are all stays in between. After these you will go to Vishnuloka.

When you offer vastra, dress to him, you go to Chandra loka. When you apply sandal paste to him mixed with kumkuma and agaru, this will make you stay in Swarga for millions of kalpas. When you do archana of Bhagawan with flowers, do you know how much punya you get? Daanam of suvarna, gold is very meritorious, doing suvarna daanam to deserving people. You count the number of petals in all the flowers that you offer put together, against each petal, it is as if you have done daanam of ten gold coins. When you offer a garland to the Lord, that will enable you to stay in Vaikuntha for hundreds of crores of kalpas. Results are great when you do archana of Narasimha Swamy with both tulasi and bilwa patra.

When you offer dhupa to Bhagawan, with guggul ghee etc., you will dwell in Vayu loka and then go to Vaikuntha. When you show deepa to Bhagawan, you will yourself become as brilliant as thousand suns, that means you will become a divinity yourself, then you will go to Vaikuntha. When you offer him naivedya, count the number of grains in that, as many enjoyments you will get in Vishnuloka. Do his pradakshina once, it is as good as you have done pradakshina of the whole earth with all the holy places in it. Do his namaskara once, all purusharthas are obtained thus. Praise him with stotras, you will be worshipped in Vishnu loka. Offer chhatra, chamara, geeta, vadya, all the rajopacharas, they will all ensure you crores and crores of kalpas of stay in Vaikuntha.

  • Why does chanting the names of Vishnu feel like switching on inner light even on bad days?
Because nama japa anchors the mind to one unchanging reality. Repetition cuts through rumination, steadies breath, and brings nervous system calm. Stillness grows; clarity follows. That calm becomes courage in action.

  • How exactly does Vishnu sahasranama help with everyday fear and anger?
The thousand names map virtues to memory. As you chant, the mind retrieves those virtues on demand. Fear meets Narasimha’s protection; anger meets Hari’s compassion. Response replaces reaction.

  • What is the simplest daily structure that actually sticks?
3 cycles: morning 11 names slowly with breath; commute or walk 108 japa on beads; night 1 page aloud with family. Keep a fixed corner, one lamp, one small notebook to mark days. Consistency beats intensity.

  • I feel scattered. How do I bring attention back without forcing it?
Tie each name to a breath. Inhale ‘Om Namo’, exhale the chosen name. If the mind wanders, restart the current bead without judgment. The bead teaches patience; the breath carries you back.

  • Can sahasranama support physical health in a real, measurable way?
Yes. Slow, rhythmic recitation improves breath length, heart rate variability, and sleep quality. Muscles relax; jaw and shoulders unclench. Better sleep and calmer nerves improve pain tolerance and digestion.

  • How do I involve family without making it a lecture?
Rotate roles: one lights the lamp, one reads 5 names, one explains one virtue in one sentence, one offers water. Keep it 7–10 minutes. End with a single family sankalpa for someone’s well-being.

  • What should I do when guilt about past mistakes interrupts chanting?
Pick one reconciliatory name like ‘Keshava’ or ‘Madhava’. Do 12 beads only for asking forgiveness and 12 beads only for offering gratitude. Guilt loosens when it is given a clear channel and endpoint.

  • How do I connect names to actual decisions at work or home?
Before a tough call, chant 12 times ‘Om Namo Narayanaya’ and ask: does this choice preserve dharma, protect the vulnerable, and reduce harm? If not, revise. Names become a decision filter.

  • What if I feel no emotion while chanting?
Keep the tongue moving and the breath even. Bhava follows discipline. Note one small shift daily in your notebook: less irritability, deeper sleep, kinder words. Small proofs accumulate into faith.

  • Is there a way to chant that builds both strength and softness?
Use two modes. Morning: firm voice, steady pace for resolve. Night: soft, stretched syllables for surrender. Strength sets boundaries; softness heals the heart. Both are held by Vishnu’s names.

  • How do I handle days of crisis when routine breaks?
Carry a pocket mala. Do 9 names every hour until evening. At night, read one verse aloud and sit silent for 2 minutes. Crisis shrinks when the day gets punctuated by nama.

  • Can sahasranama improve relationships at home?
Yes. Shared rhythm reduces friction. Choose one ‘family name of the week’ like ‘Shantakara’. Place it on the fridge. Appreciate anyone who lived that name that day. Praise bonds faster than advice.

  • What if I already read many texts but still feel restless?
Convert knowledge to rhythm. Select 10 names that match your current challenges. Chant them 108 times daily for 41 days. Track one tangible action per day that reflects those names. Restlessness fades when wisdom turns to habit.

  • How do I keep motivation high after the initial enthusiasm?
Use three anchors: a fixed time, a fixed place, and a fixed small target you never miss. On low-energy days, do only 12 names but do not break the chain. Momentum is siddhi.

  • What is a respectful way to pray for someone’s health?
Sit quietly, visualize the person smiling, chant 108 times ‘Om Namo Narayanaya’, and at the end offer the phala to them. Send a kind message after. Prayer plus action completes the circle.

  • How can I measure progress without getting egoistic?
Monthly check: fewer outbursts, better sleep onset time, quicker recovery from setbacks, kinder speech noted by others. If pride appears, do 108 japa silently for humility and offer the day’s credit back to Hari.
