In the previous episode, we saw the meaning of the shloka,
Now the next shloka -
Devi is hunger in all beings.
She causes hunger, she is hunger.
Being hungry is not a great feeling.
But have you thought, what happens if you lose your appetite, stop feeling hungry?
You won't take food.
Body will become weaker and weaker and eventually perish.
So many cells keep dying every hour.
If they have to be replenished, if the seven dhatus of the body - bone, blood, marrow, nerves, skin, flesh, shukra - if they have to be replenished that happens because you take food.
This is a constant need of the body.
Only if you take food, your body can stay alive.
And you will take food only if you are hungry.
That hunger is Devi.
Through hunger, she is nourishing your body, keeping it alive.

The 17th shloka -
Blazing Sun above, hot summer, you are walking through a long highway, you have walked miles.
Suddenly you see a tree.
The relief that you get under the shade of that tree, that shade is Devi.
While burning in the middle of your day-to-day worldly problems - health problems, wealth problems, family problems, livelihood problems, threats, dangers - while burning in the middle of all these, she comforts you once in while by giving you a shade to rest for a while.
That's her, that shade is her.

The next shloka -
What is the meaning of shakti here?
Capability.
Every being has its own capabilities.
Fish can stay in water forever.
That is its capability.
Monkeys can jump from tree to tree.
That's their capability.
A crocodile bit can damage boats or even cages,
That's their capability.
Devi only exists as these various capabilities in various beings.
Can saltwater crocodiles break metal?
