If you miss out on remembering him even for a moment, cry loudly as if attacked by robbers. That much should be the grief for not remembering him even for a moment.
जनार्दनं भूतपतिं जगद्गुरुं स्मरन् मनुष्यः सततं महामुने
दुःखानि सर्वाण्यपहन्ति साधयत्यशेषकार्याणि च यान्यभीप्सते
Sri Hari, the tormentor of the evil, lord of all beings, guru of the entire universe — someone who remembers him constantly — all his sadness will be gone, all his miseries will be gone, all his unhappiness will be gone, whatever he desires will be achieved.
In all this, action from your side is involved. Even if Sri Hari is omnipresent, omnipotent — he is not a God who sits in heaven and would understand your needs and wishes and grant them as and when required. For that, you have to connect to him. For that, you have to stay connected to him constantly. That effort is required from your side. Then only it happens.
People say God knows everything. He would do whatever is right. That is not correct. By default, you are only going to get whatever is the result of your karma. When you connect to him, it is different. Then your sins are wished away. All the unhappiness, troubles, miseries which are the results of your own bad deeds vanish. You start seeing only happiness.
For this, you have to connect to him. Stay connected to him by perpetually remembering him and praising his glory. Mobile network is there everywhere, but only if your mobile phone is turned on you get connected. That is the effort that is required from your side.

Samsara is an ocean. An endless ocean apparently. But there is definitely the other shore of the ocean, where Sri Hari stands waiting for you. Ships cross oceans and reach the other end. It could take days or months. When you fly over the Atlantic and reach the other coast, you know for sure that there is an end to the apparently endless ocean.
Our sages have seen this other shore of the ocean and they have taught us the ways and means of crossing this ocean. What does this ocean consist of? Birth – old age – death – birth – old age – death – birth – old age – death. If you reach the other shore, you no longer have to take a birth. Only when you are within the ocean, these cycles of birth, old age, and death happen.
How do you cross this ocean that is samsara?

By simply remembering. By simply staying focused on him. That is your ticket to the other side of the ocean.

It is Kali, with all its inherent sins. The mind is lost in sensual pleasures. People go on committing sins. Still, if you remember him, all that sin will be gone.
वासुदेवे मनो यस्य जपहोमार्चनादिषु
तस्यान्तरायो मैत्रेय देवेन्द्रत्वादिकं फलम्
Whenever you perform a karma, there is a result — a karma like japa, homa, archana. You perform that act looking forward to getting that result. Even the status of Indra, Devendratva, is achieved by performing yajnas.
But if you are doing all this for Vasudeva, those results look like obstacles to you. You are a student. You study, pass the exam, pass out. Your studentship ends. You are no longer a student. You have achieved something, but you have stopped being a student.
The devotee of Sri Hari doesn’t want any result. The result, the achievement, is an obstacle for him — an obstacle in his constant worship of Sri Hari. If you are made the king of Devaloka, Devendra, you have a lot of responsibilities to carry out. You won’t get all the time that you want to keep on remembering him, keep on worshiping him. So you don’t want those rewards. You just want to worship him for the sake of worshiping him — which is the highest of dharmas, greatest of dharmas.
