Bathing is essential in spiritual life.
Daily bathing, particularly at the beginning of the day, is essential because sleeping is considered to be a mini-death. So, impurity associated with death is there in you when you wake up from sleep.
So before you do any spiritual activity, taking bath and purifying your body is essential.
But suppose, you are not well — what to do now?
Doctor has told you not to take bath.
It is too cold in the morning.
There is no water in the tap. You forgot to fill water.
You are travelling, suddenly you see a beautiful temple on the way, but you have not taken proper bath.
You touched something impure and bathing immediately is not possible?
There are so many such situations when taking a proper bath with water is not possible. What to do then?
This is called Dhyanasnana.
Whoever is your Ishtadevata, think about him or her.
The Ishtadevata is above you in the sky, or Swarga.
From his or her feet, water is falling down — pure, sparkling, purifying water — like a waterfall, it is falling on your head.
And you know Brahmarandhra, the tiny hole on top of your head at the centre — through that, this water is entering into your body, filling your entire body, every organ in your body, every cell in your body.
And this water is removing impurity from every part of your body — external, internal — hair, face, neck, chest, hands, legs, back, from everywhere. Internally, from every organ — heart, liver, every cell in every organ, from your mind — and it flows out of your body, washing away all impurities.
And you have become pure. You have become clean.
That’s it.
