Jarasandha was an emperor. Kans was the king of Mathura. Mahabharata says that Kans derived his power from Jarasandha. Kans was Jarasandha’s son-in-law. Krishna killed Kans but did not kill Jarasandha even after 18 battles. Krishna tells Yudhishtira that he, Balarama, and the eighteen clans of the Yadavas would not be able to defeat Jarasandha even if they fought for 300 years.
Sant Pundalik was very much devoted to the service of his old parents. When Lord Krishna heard about him, he came to visit all the way from Dwaraka. Pundalik was busy. The Lord waited watching him in amusement standing on top of a brick. It is in memory of this that the idol of Vithoba has him standing on a brick.

There is a funny story about how luck favours some people all the time.
There was a youngster.
He was not very intelligent.
He didn’t study well.
His father always used to insult him calling him a frog.
He got married.
His father kept on insulting him in front of his wife also.
So he decided to leave home and go elsewhere.
He went with his wife to the town and found job in a rich man’s house.
He would do all menial jobs and his wife helped in the kitchen.
Some time went by.
It was the wedding of the rich man’s daughter.
The youngster’s mouth started watering thinking about the delicacies that would be there in the feast.
But he was not even invited.
He thought: I should do something to get respect.
I can’t live like this forever.
At night, he stole the groom’s horse, took it to the forest nearby, and tied it to a tree.
In the morning, everyone was shocked to see that the groom’s horse was missing.
They started searching for it, but couldn’t find it.
The young man spread a word around through his wife that he had some mystical powers and probably he will be able to tell where the horse is.
Hearing this, the rich man called him in.
The youngster drew some lines, pretended to be doing some calculations and said where the horse was.
They went there and found the horse there.
Everyone was impressed.
The rich man gave him a promotion and made him his adviser.
After a few months, a theft took place at the palace.
The queen’s valuable ornaments were stolen.
The king heard about the young man and called for him.
I have heard about your magical power.
Now you have to find our where the queen’s ornaments are.
They are very valuable and dear to her.
He was shown a room and told to stay there and do his calculations until the ornaments are found.
In fact, the ornaments were stolen by a maid.
When she heard that the miracle man had come to catch the thief, she really got scared.
She went near the room of the young man to find out what he was doing.
Inside the room, the young man was worried: what will happen when they find out that he did not have any such power.
He started cursing for having told lies that he had special powers.
See what they are going to do with you when they find out the truth.
They will cut you to pieces.
The maid thought that he was talking to her.
She rushed in and fell at his feet.
When the young man realized that she only had taken the ornaments, he asked her where they were.
She told him that they were buried under a tree.
Next morning he said: I have found out where the ornaments are.
He took everyone to the tree and dug out the ornaments.
Everyone except the minister was impressed.
The minister had doubts: how can an illiterate man like him get such powers.
He decided to test him.
Next day, he was called to the king’s court.
A frog was kept in a pot and its mouth covered with a piece of cloth.
The minister said: young man, we are all impressed with your power.
Now demonstrate to everyone how great you are.
Tell us what is inside this pot.
The young boy was caught.
What to do now?
He remembered how his father used to insult and those words came out of his mouth.
You frog, you are good for nothing.
They opened the pot and the frog jumped out.
Everyone was again surprised.
And he spent the rest of his life as adviser to the king.
See how lucky he was.
Do you know where luck comes from?
If you do good things in your life, you get good results.
If you do bad things you will get bad result.
This is called karma.
But then, these results don’t come immediately.
Sometimes, they come in the next birth.
Results of your good deeds from the earlier birth, coming to you in the present birth is what is called luck.
If someone is lucky, it means that he or she has done a lot of good deeds in the previous birth.
If you want to be lucky, you also start doing a lot of good deeds now.
