Sri Hari Is Inside Everything

तत्सृष्ट्वा तदेवानुप्रविशत् says Taittiriya Upanishad.

Having created that, he entered that. Like how you build a house with your own hands and enter it and start living there. That is what Sri Hari does. Creates all beings – living, non-living, movable, immovable – enters all of them and resides in all of them.

स एष इह प्रविष्ट आ नखाग्रेभ्यः – having entered, he doesn’t stay at one place. It pervades up to the tip of the nails. The whole body is pervaded by him. You can’t make, because at any point of time you are only seeing part of him in action. When he speaks, you see the mouth alone – only the function of speech. When he sees, you only see the eyes. When he hears, you only see the ears. Every time you only see one part of him. What you don’t see is that it is the same driving force which is Sri Hari, who expresses himself as speech, vision, and hearing.

एको देवः बहुधा निविष्टः – That one and only Deva who stays in the beings in various forms. Who occupies the being in various forms. Be it lion, be it a deer, be it a man, be it mountain – he only occupies all these in various forms.

एकः सन् बहुधा विचारः – Even when he is the one and only God, he moves about in different forms.

एक व हि भूतात्मा भूते भूते व्यवस्थितः
एकधा बहुधा चैव दृश्यते जलचन्द्रवत् – Look at the sky – there is only one Moon. But there are ten different moons inside ten separate water-filled pots. It is the same moon which appears in all the pots. Start counting, there will be ten. This is the relation between Paramatma and Jeevatma. The moon in the sky is Paramatma and the moon in the individual pot is the Jeevatma.

त्वमेकोऽसि बहूननुप्रविष्टः – You alone have assumed the various forms.

Rigveda describes this single god:
हिरण्यगर्भः समवर्तताग्रे भूतस्य जातः पतिरेक आसीत्
स दाधार पृथिवीं द्यामुतेमां कस्मै देवाय हविषा विधेम – Before creation, only Hiranyagarbha was there. Scriptures describe this state before creation as a golden egg. This single god was inside the golden egg or he carried the golden egg in his belly. He was the one and only lord (Pati) of the creation. He alone supports earth, atmosphere, and heaven. Him we worship.

य आत्मदा बलदा यस्य विश्वं उपासते प्रशिषं यस्य देवाः
यस्य छायामृतं यस्य मृत्युः कस्मै देवाय हविषा विधेम – He is Atmada – creator of all Jivatmas. He is the provider of strength. His orders are obeyed by Devas. Both immortality and death are like his shadows. Him we worship.
