विमलमतिरमत्सरः प्रशान्तः शुचिचरितोऽखिलसत्त्वमित्रभूतः
प्रियहितवचनोऽस्तमानमायो वसति सदा हृदि तस्य वासुदेवः
Which is the dwelling place of Vasudeva?
Clear mind, spotless mind, sinless mind, calm and composed, clean conduct, friend of everyone, speaking nice words, never offending anyone with words, whose delusions — maya — are gone, whose limitations are gone. Such a person — his heart is the dwelling place of Vasudeva.
Yamaraja is telling his duta whom to avoid:
यमनियमविधूतकल्मषाणामनुदिनमच्युतसक्तमानसानाम्
अपगतमदमानमत्सराणां व्रज भट दूरतरेण मानवानाम्
Those who observe yama and niyama, whose kalmasha (sins) are already washed away, who are obsessed with Achyuta, engrossed in Achyuta — their pride, arrogance, sense of competition, envy — all are gone. Stay away from them. You don’t have to bring them to Yamaloka. Yamaloka is only for those who take rebirth. Such people don’t have to take another birth. So stay away from such people.
विश्वं सर्वत्र पूर्णत्वात् स्वरूपगुणवैभवैः
The name Vishvam indicates completeness — completeness with respect to His forms, attributes, and abilities. When you call Him Universe, then nothing is left out.
Isn’t this what Bhagavan revealed before Arjuna as His Vishwaroopa?
Until then, He was Arjuna’s charioteer, holding the reins and the whip in His hands. Then He showed His Vishwaroopa — the Universal Form.
Sri Hari tells Arjuna to see in His Vishwaroopa all the wonders and marvels never seen by anyone before — the 12 Suns, 11 Rudras, 8 Vasus — all the divinities within Himself. All movables and immovables, all within Him.
Then Bhagavan gives Arjuna divine eyes — divine vision. His ordinary eyes, limited by maya, do not have the capacity to see all that was being revealed before him. So Bhagavan removed the limitation from his eyes — the maya from his eyes — and revealed His Vishwaroopa.
Innumerable mouths, faces, eyes, ornaments, weapons — dazzling brilliance, anointed by divine sandal paste, wearing garlands — endless and all-pervading.
We have said many times this term — all-pervading. What does it mean?
There is a glass of water. You put a piece of sponge into it. The sponge absorbs all the water and is saturated with water. Now we say that the sponge is pervaded by water. There is not a single point in the sponge where water is not present.
When we say that Sri Hari has pervaded the universe — His own creation, He Himself — it means there is not a single point in the universe where He is not present.
He was as brilliant as a thousand Suns. A glance at the Sun for a few moments can turn you blind — but the brilliance of Sri Hari’s Vishwaroopa was that of a thousand Suns. But Arjuna was not watching with ordinary human eyes. He was provided with divine eyes.
Arjuna could see the whole universe within Sri Hari. He could see all the Devas, plants, animals, Rishis, serpents — everything within Sri Hari. Lord Shiva, Brahma — they were all there.
Arjuna couldn’t see where Bhagavan’s Vishwaroopa began or ended. All the heat that is required for keeping the universe warm was coming out of His mouth in the form of Agni.
