Siddhashrama is highly renowned. It was here that Sanatkumara attained the fruits of his penance. Even Brahma and Indra performed austerities at this sacred place. The constant divine presence of Bhagavan Ganesha there is the reason for its significance.
Once, on the full moon day of Vaishakha, Shiva and Parvati were present at Siddhashrama. Brahma, along with all the other devas, siddhas, and gandharvas, gathered there to worship Bhagavan Ganesha.
At that time, Radha also arrived at the ashram along with the gopis. Her intent was to perform Ganesha’s worship to put an end to her sorrow of separation from Krishna. After purifying herself with a sacred bath, she entered the worship hall.
She meditated upon Bhagavan while chanting the mantra:
Kharvam Lambodaram Sthoolam Jvalantam Brahmatejasa,
Gajavaktram Vahnivarnam Ekadantam Anantakam,
Sharanaagata Deenaarthaam Paritraana Paraayanam,
Dhyaayeddhyaanatmakam Saadhyam Bhaktesham Bhaktavatsalam.
She then worshiped Bhagavan with offerings of water, sandalwood, flowers, incense, lamps, and modakas. Afterward, she chanted the mantra ‘Om Gam Gam Ganapataye Vighna Vinashine Swaha’ 1008 times. Following this, she performed a homa (sacrificial fire ritual) and offered food to the noble souls.
With eyes filled with tears of longing, she praised Bhagavan.
Bhagavan Ganesha appeared before her and spoke:
‘Jagajanani, is not your eternal abode in the heart of Shri Krishna? Then how can there be sorrow of separation? Is this not all a divine play to teach the world the significance of worship and devotion? Nevertheless, whatever wish you held in your heart while worshiping me, it shall be fulfilled without delay.’
