Meaning of Sri Venkatesha Suprabhatam- Part 6
कन्दर्पदर्पहर सुन्दर दिव्यमूर्ते
कान्ताकुचाम्बुरुह कुट्मल लोलदृष्टे।
कल्याणनिर्मलगुणाकर दिव्यकीर्ते
श्रीवेङ्कटाचलपते तव सुप्रभातम्॥
Kandarpa (Kamadeva) prides himself as the most handsome of all.
You take away this pride of his – kandarpa darpa hara (darpa means pride) – with your divya murthy (divine form).
You humble Kamadeva with your handsome form.
Kanta kuchamburaha kutmala lola drishte – with your gaze fixed on the bosom of Mother Lakshmi.
Kalyana nirmala gunakara divyakeerte –
Akara – a mine of all good qualities (gunakara).
Your divine glory (divyakeerti) is because of your kalyana (auspiciousness), nirmala (purity), and because you are a mine of all good qualities.
Shree Venkatachalapate tava suprabhatam.
मीनाकृते कमठ कोल नृसिंह वर्णिन्
स्वामिन् परश्वथतपोधन रामचन्द्र।
शेषांशराम यदुनन्दन कल्किरूप
श्रीवेङ्कटाचलपते तव सुप्रभातम्॥
This shloka mentions the ten avataras:
Meenakrite – lord as Matsyavatara,
Kamatha – Kurma,
Kola – Varaha,
Nrisimha,
Varnee – Brahmachari (Vamana),
Parashvatha tapodhana – the sage with an axe, Parashurama,
Ramachandra,
Sheshamsha Rama – Balarama,
Yadunandana – Krishna,
and Kalki.

एला लवङ्ग घनसार सुगन्धि तीर्थं
दिव्यं वियत्सरिति हेमघटेषु पूर्णम्।
धृत्वाऽऽद्य वैदिक शिखामणयः प्रहृष्टाः
तिष्ठन्ति वेङ्कटपते तव सुप्रभातम्॥
Teertham divyam viyatsariti – the holy water brought from Svargaganga,
Hemaghateshu purnam – filled in golden pots.
Ela – cardamom,
Lavanga – clove,
Ghanasara – camphor.
These have been added to that holy water.
Vaidika shikhamanyaha – the best of Vedic scholars are happily waiting to bathe you with this water (dhritvadya tishtanti).
Venkata Pate tava suprabhatam.
भास्वानुदेति विकचानि सरोरुहाणि
सम्पूरयन्ति निनदैः ककुभो विहङ्गाः।
श्रीवैष्णवास्सततमर्थित मङ्गलास्ते
धामाऽऽश्रयन्ति तव वेङ्कट सुप्रभातम्॥
Bhasvanudeti – the sun is rising,
Vikachani saroruhani – lotuses have blossomed,
Sampoorayanti ninadaih kakubho vihangaha – the birds are filling the sky with their chirps.
Shree Vaishnavaha – your devotees,
Satatam arthita mangalaha – always seeking auspiciousness and welfare,
Tava dhamashrayanti – they are all here at your home.
Venkata suprabhatam.
ब्रह्मादयः सुरवरास्समहर्षयस्ते
सन्तस्सनन्दन मुखास्त्वथ योगिवर्याः।
धामान्तिके तव हि मङ्गलवस्तु हस्ताः
श्रीवेङ्कटाचलपते तव सुप्रभातम्॥
Brahmadayah suravarah – the great suras such as Brahma,
Smarshayaha – along with maharshis,
Santaha – the holy men,
Sanandana mukhastvatha yogivarya – great yogis such as Sanandana,
Mangalavastu hastaha – holding auspicious items to worship you with,
Dhamantike – they are all near your home, at your doorstep, waiting to worship you.
Shree Venkatachalapate tava suprabhatam.
लक्ष्मीनिवास निरवद्यगुणैकसिन्धो
संसार सागर समुत्तरणैकसेतो।
वेदान्तवेद्यनिजवैभव भक्तभोग्य
श्रीवेङ्कटाचलपते तव सुप्रभातम्॥
You are the abode of Lakshmi (Lakshmi Nivasa),
Niravadya gunaika sindho – you are the one and only ocean of great qualities.
Setu means bridge.
You are the one and only bridge that can take us across the samsara sagara.
Samsara sagara samuttaranaika seto.
Vedantavedya nija vaibhava – your greatness can only be known through the principles of Vedanta.
Bhaktabhogya – giver of enjoyments to your devotees.
Shree Venkatachalapate tava suprabhatam.
इत्थं वृषाचलपतेरिह सुप्रभातम्
ये मानवाः प्रतिदिनं पठितुं प्रवृत्ताः।
तेषां प्रभातसमये स्मृतिरङ्गभाजां
प्रज्ञां परार्थसुलभां परमां प्रसूते॥
One who chants this Suprabhatam (Vrishachala Pateh iha suprabhatam)
Prabhatasamaye pathitum pravruttah – in the morning,
every day – pratidinam,
by remembering the lord thus in the morning,
Tesham paramam prajnam prasute – they become highly intelligent.
Parartha – the intelligence becomes so vast and expansive.
This is the result of chanting Sri Venkatesha Suprabhatam every day.
