The ocean was churned with the medicinal juices from trees and herbs of Mandara Parvata dissolved in it, and also the essences of medicinal minerals.

Amrita came out.

The Asuras started fighting for the entire amrita.

They wanted to take it all.

But exactly the opposite happened.

Bhagavan Sri Hari assumed the form of a beautiful enchantress, Mohini.

The Asuras were mesmerized by her beauty.

Their attention got completely diverted.

She took hold of the pot of amrita and told them to sit in two rows.

Devas as one row and Asuras as one row.

While the Asuras were drinking her beauty with their eyes, she started serving from the Deva side.

In between, the Asura Rahu disguised himself as a Deva and came and sat on the Deva side.

Surya and Chandra realized this and they called out.

By that time the amrita that Rahu drank had reached up to his neck.

The Lord immediately beheaded Rahu with Sudarshana chakra.

The head of Rahu rose up in the sky like a mountain and started roaring again and again.

The body like another mountain fell on the ground and kept on smashing on the ground causing earthquakes.

The Asuras realized that Mohini is not going to give them amrita.

Terrible battle started between the Devas and Asuras.

The Lord also came out of his Mohini form and assumed his original form.

Both sides fought each other with terrible and lethal weapons.

The heads of Asuras wearing golden crowns kept on falling upon the battleground one after another.

Both sides were throwing huge weapons at each other and entered into fistfights whenever they came close by.

Terrible battle cries were heard all over the battlefield.

At that time the two avatars of the Lord, Nara and Narayana also came to the battlefield.

Nara was carrying a bow.

Narayana thought about Sudarshana chakra and immediately the chakra appeared in his hand.

It was huge and as brilliant as the Surya-mandala.

As brilliant as fire.

Nobody can stop Sudarshana chakra.

It is Sudarshana meaning good to look at only for the good people.

For evil people, it is as fierce as death.

Sudarshana single-handedly can destroy whole kingdoms of Asuras.

Lord Narayana's arms were as huge as the trunk of an elephant.

He shot the Sudarshana upon the Asuras.

The chakra kept on hitting at the Asura-sena and with every hit burned thousands of them.

Huge flames were coming out of the chakra.

The chakra kept on moving all around, sometimes rising up in the sky looking for Asuras.

This is because some of the Asuras rose up in the sky and started showering huge mountains and rocks upon Devas.

While the chakra destroyed them from above, from below Lord Nara shot arrows and pulverized those mountains and rocks as they came down.

Finally, the remaining Asuras fled and hid in Pathala Loka and under the sea.

Devas won the battle.

They put back Mandara Parvata in its original place.

Devas left for Swarga with the amrita kumbha and there handed it over to Lord Nara for safe custody.

Amrita has to be kept very safely.

Any time Asuras might come for it.

So Ucchaisravas also had emerged during the churning of the ocean.

Kadru asked Vinata once as they saw Ucchaisravas passing through the sky: what do you think is the color of that horse?

Vinata said white.

What do you think?

Kadru said: its tail is black

By that time Ucchaisravas was gone.

We will bet on this.

If I win, you will become my servant.

If you win, I will become your servant.

They both agreed, jealousy and competition between sisters.

They both went back to their own homes saying that tomorrow they will check when Uchaisravas appears again in the sky.

Kadru was crooked, cunning.

She called her sons and told them to hang on to the tail of Ucchaisravas so that it would look like having black hair.

Otherwise, I will become the servant of my sister.

Most of them disagreed.

She cursed them.

The Pandava king Janamejaya will conduct a Sarpa-yajna; in that all of you will burn to death.

Brahma overheard this curse.

He called Kashyapa, Kadru's husband, and said: don’t be annoyed with her.

She has done a good thing.

This is divine will.

The serpents that you both have given birth to have increased manyfold in number.

They have deadly poison in them.

They have become cruel and are biting people for no reason.

Their number has to be brought under control

That is why Sarpa-yajna is going to take place.

So in fact, Kadru's curse is as per divine will.

Don’t get upset that she cursed her own children.

Brahmadeva also taught Kashyapa the vidya to neutralize poison.

In the meantime, Kadru's son Karkotaka told his mother: mother don’t worry, I will go and hang on to the tail of the horse and I will make it look black.
