Sri Hari Pervades Through Lakshmi Devi

Even in Medhasukta,
Medha Sukta is another famous Sukta.

Here Mata is considered as the controller of intelligence, intellect, provider of intelligence and intellect.

मेधा देवी जुषमाणा न आगात् – जुषमाणा means she enjoys this leela of hers, of creating and managing this colossal universe.

She is called विश्वाची here – विश्वं भूतजातं अञ्जसा अञ्जन्ती व्याप्य नियच्छन्ती, pervading the entire universe, every being, living, non-living, every nook and corner of this entire universe.

त्वायैतद्विष्णुना चाम्ब जगद्व्याप्तं चराचरं
If we say that Lord Vishnu has pervaded the whole universe because of which only he is called Vishnu, then it is through her. He doesn’t do it alone by himself, he does it through Lakshmi, he does it by means of Lakshmi.

This is why I said earlier, if you don’t understand Lakshmi, you won’t understand Vishnu.

So don’t think that Lakshmi is goddess of the business community, goddess of the money-minded, goddess of those who want money, goddess of the small people who have only worldly aspirations.

See how deep her tatwa.

If Vishnu is omnipresent, it is through her only.

And she is called सुमनस्यमाना. Her mind is full of kindness.

पापानां वा शुभानां वा वधार्हाणामथापि वा। कार्य कारुण्यमार्येण न कश्चिन्नापराध्यति
Who hasn’t committed an offence, who doesn’t commit sin? She knows this.

So she has karuna towards everyone – be it a noble, be it a sinner, be it even someone who deserves to be punished with beheading. Even towards him, she is kind. That is her nature – that is why she is called Sumanasyamana.

त्वया जुष्टा जुषमाणा दुरुक्तान् । बृहद्वदेम विदधे सुवीराः
The sages are saying that before your kataksha fell upon us, we were just blabbering, we were just talking meaningless, powerless words.

Now after your merciful glance fell upon us, we have become great scholars. Our words have become powerful, our words are respected and appreciated. This shows that she blesses with scholarly achievements.

त्वया जुष्टः ऋषिर्भवति – a rishi becomes a rishi only after your glance falls upon him.

देवि त्वया ब्रह्माऽऽगतश्रीरुत त्वया
Why rishi, even Brahma is Brahma only because of your kataksha.

आगतश्री – even someone who has lost everything, he becomes Agatashree – one who has got abundance – all because of your kataksha only.

त्वया जुष्टश्चित्रं विन्दते वसु
Your kataksha gives lot of wealth, abundance.

• Who is Medha Devi and what does she actually do?
  She is the power that gives intelligence, insight, and right judgement. She makes thought clear, speech effective, and action fruitful.

• If Bhagavan is all-powerful, why speak of a separate shakti?
  Think plan and power. Bhagavan is the sustaining principle; shakti is the driving force that makes the plan work everywhere.

• What does ‘pervading the universe’ mean in plain terms?
  The same conscious order runs through atoms, minds, and galaxies. Laws, harmony, and meaning exist because that presence is active.

• How do Vishnu and Lakshmi work together?
  Vishnu sustains all; Lakshmi is the effectiveness that spreads and maintains that sustainment in every place, time, and being.

• Is Lakshmi only about money?
  No. Money is one slice. Lakshmi is prosperity as clarity, strength, good relationships, reputation, health, and timely opportunities.

• What does ‘Sumanasyamana’ reveal about the divine attitude?
  A kindly, gracious mind. Guidance comes with compassion, not contempt, because everyone slips at times.

• Does compassion cancel justice?
  No. Compassion corrects without cruelty. Consequences teach; grace gives strength and direction to reform.

  It turns scattered thoughts into structure and loose talk into words that carry weight, accuracy, and benefit.

• Can scholarship arise without grace if I just work hard?
  Effort builds skill; grace aligns the mind so learning sticks, discrimination sharpens, and ego noise drops.

  Clean conduct, truthfulness, service to teachers, daily study, remembrance of Medha Devi, and gratitude after each learning win.

• What is the role of prayer if the divine already pervades everything?
  Alignment. Like tuning a radio, prayer sets your inner frequency to receive what already fills the field.

• How do I measure whether worship is working?
  Better focus, kinder choices, fewer impulsive errors, steadier memory, and speech that helps rather than hurts.

• Is wealth guaranteed to those who pray?
  No guaranteed windfalls. What grows is fitness to gain and keep wholesome wealth by right means and wise use.

• Can a sinner receive grace?
  Yes. Honest remorse and effort open the door. Grace supports change; it never licenses repeated harm.

• What simple daily practice strengthens medha?
  Early rising, a short recitation from Medha Sukta, 30 minutes of focused study, brief reflection, and offering your day’s learning in service.

  Begin with disciplined study, good sleep, sattvic food, and mindful speech. Sincerity itself invites grace.
