Today we will look at the meaning of the divya nama Prajabhavaha and also what happens after pralaya.
प्रजाभवः – सर्वाः प्रजाः यत्सकाशादुद्भवन्ति स प्रजाभवः
The origin of all beings praja. Sri Hari is Prajabhava.
तद्दत्तैरॆव करणैः तस्मिन्नभिमुखाः प्रजाः |
सर्वाश्चैव भवन्तीति प्रजाभव उदाहृतः
How does one reach him, approach him? Through instruments, tools provided by him. What are these tools? Karmendriyas, jnanendriyas.
What is the use of this body? To be of service to Sri Hari. To approach him. To reach him. That is the only task worthy of doing. So, if we have to reach him, he only has to give us the means.
If you want to go to America, the Americans have to give us visa. Only if they allow, we can go there. Sri Hari not only gives a visa. He first calls us, come to me. Otherwise you will not even know about him. Then he provides us with the means to reach him, his nama, the stories of his leela, the mantras, methods of sadhana, his bhajans, his temples, his devotees. Unless he doesn’t call us, unless he doesn’t provide us with all these, how can we reach him. That is why he is Prajabhava.
What happens after pralaya? Pralaya at the end of a kalpa. The universe exists for 4.32 billion years and then it is gone. For another 4.32 billion years, there is nothing. Does everyone get mukti at the time of pralaya? No.
The Lord goes into yoga nidra for 4.32 billion years. At that time everything is withdrawn into the Lord’s stomach, in anu roopa or miniature forms. This state is also called tirobhava. Pralaya is the process of elimination. But this state in which everything exists in anu rupa in the stomach of Sri Hari is called tirobhava. Then at the end of this period, approximately when one eighth part of this state of tirobhava remains, the Lord starts looking inside. What to do with all these now.
The occupants of his stomach are not in the same state. They are in different states of spiritual progress. The Lord has four forms, you know that – Vasudeva, Sankarshana, Pradyumna and Aniruddha. In Ramavatara – they are Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrughna. In Krishnavatara – they are Krishna, Balarama, Pradyumna his son and Aniruddha his grandson. This is how the Lord made us aware that he has got these forms. They co-exist. It is not that Pradyumna was his son so he came later. There is no time element in this. So this chaturvyuha is eternal. His presence is always as chaturvyuha.
So when the Lord thinks what to do with these beings inside his stomach now, these beings, some of them have got linga shareera, some of them are already separated from their linga shareeras in the previous kalpa. At the time of pralaya, in whatever state they are in, they all come inside the Lord’s stomach. So some of them are without linga shareera only.
What is linga shareera? A body that comprises of what remains of karma, results of karma yet to be undergone and vasanas created out of those karmas, whatever that distinguishes someone as an individual, which comprises of your thoughts and emotions. If there are incidents in your life beyond your control, if you feel so, that means you have a linga shareera, because these incidents which are apparently beyond your control are your own past karma giving their results.
If you think this is how I am, I am short tempered, I am kind, I am generous, I am educated, I am knowledgeable, I am atheist, I am a believer – all these mean you have linga shareera. You are tied to it. It goes wherever you go. Or this linga shareera is the vehicle without which you cannot go anywhere.
In the first case, you are separated from all your karma, all your vasanas, fit for moksha. This was your state at the time of the previous pralaya. Such people, such beings, whatever you want to call them, the Lord retains with his form called Vasudeva, giving them moksha of the various types – sameepya, salokya, sarupya, sarshti, sayuja.
The rest he hands over to Aniruddha. Here there are three types. Those who have got linga shareera with only goodness, them Aniruddha sends to the good worlds such as Satyaloka, Swarga, for enjoyments. Vaikuntha is not included in this. Those who go to Vaikuntha are with Vasudeva.
Then the second type with Aniruddha, those with pure 100% evil linga shareeras, them Aniruddha sends to lokas such as Naraka for eternal suffering. Eternal means till the next pralaya.
The third type who are a mix of good and evil, them Aniruddha hands over to Pradyumna. Them Pradyumna causes to take birth as human beings. In this rebirth they can either rise or fall depending on what they do using their free will.
Pradyumna is the Lord of creation –
प्रकृष्टं जगदाख्यं द्युम्नं द्रविणमस्येति प्रद्युम्नः – this created universe is his property. In that sense, the creator Brahma is he himself, you can say even his delegate or an aspect of him. Pradyumna is also responsible for the creation of everything, living, non-living, movable, immovable, visible, invisible, everything.
Once the universe comes into existence, Aniruddha plays the role of sustaining it, maintaining it, managing it, administering it, what we call as Vishnu.
न निरुद्धं स्थितिकर्म यस्य सोऽनिरुद्धः
Then the aspect which is for samhara – Sankarshana.
संहरन् देहात् कर्षतीति संकर्षणः
Which we call as Rudra. So between the four of them they manage this whole thing.
