Are You Searching At The Wrong Place?

How misplaced searches yield no benefit and lead to frustration.

Are we searching at the wrong place? A woman was stitching with a needle inside her house. It was sunset. It became dark. The needle fell from her hand. There was a lamp inside the house. Are we searching at the wrong place?
A woman was stitching with a needle inside her house.
It was sunset.
It became dark.
The needle fell from her hand.
There was a lamp inside the house.
But in the darkness, she could not locate the switch.
Somehow, she found the door and came out.
The street lights were on.

So she started looking here and there.
Someone came and asked her, 'what are you searching for, did you lose something?'
'I lost my needle.'
'How come, you lost it here?'
'No, I dropped it inside the house.'
'Then you should look for it inside the house.'
'There is no light there.'
'But aren't you just wasting time looking for it here.'
'There should be light to search for it.'
'This is where I could find light.'
'But this is so foolish.'
'What do you mean? You want me to sit idle without looking for it? Am I not supposed to do something? Am I not expected to do something?'

This is how confused many people are, about life, both worldly and spiritual lives.

The search has to be inside, inside yourself.
What a mentor, or a guru, or a book can do is to turn you inwards, turn your attention inwards.
Whatever is wrong with the world, you will find the reason inside yourself.
It is your expectations, your false notions, your prejudices, your emotions that are making the world a bad place for you.
