The house in which you live is not a dead structure made of brick and mortar. It is a living entity, as per Sanatana Dharma and Shastras.
You should understand and appreciate this. With so much fuss going around about Vastu and similar matters, people are now looking at their own houses with suspicion. Is this house the reason for all my problems? The door is not in the correct position. The kitchen is not in the correct position. The northeast is cut off. The master bedroom should not be here. The gate should have been there.
You are facing a particular direction when going out—if that is the problem, why not face the opposite direction and walk backward whenever you go out? That should be the simplest solution. Positive energy getting blocked under cupboards, negative energy seeping in through the roof—every house is being looked at with suspicion, like a criminal.
I am not at all questioning the validity of Vastu Shastra. It is great knowledge—real, helpful, and useful knowledge that our sages have given us. But this is not Vastu. Vastu is about harmonizing your home with nature. Vastu starts from the soil. The expert takes a pinch of the soil, puts it in their mouth, and tastes it to see whether the place is good for living. That is where Vastu begins.
What is mostly being done these days in the name of Vastu is not Vastu. According to the principles of Sanatana Dharma, a house is a living entity. That is why we have a Vastu Purusha associated with every house. Every house has an independent, individual Vastu Purusha—like another member of your family.
Every house has a horoscope, like a child. If you measure the periphery of the house, you can calculate its nakshatra and rashi. Why do we perform dwara puja while entering the house? This is to remind you, right at the beginning, even before you enter, that the house is a living entity—a divinity. Treat it that way.
Now you are looking at it like a criminal. Give respect, and your house will reciprocate. This is our culture. Every morning, when you wake up, you are supposed to tell Bhumi Devi, 'Padasparsham kshamasva me'—pardon me for touching you with my feet. This is our culture.
If our ancestors could find peace with nature, it is because they treated nature with respect. They worshipped nature. Just imagine—your house bears all that you do, 24 hours a day. Can you imagine someone doing all that to your body, day in and day out?
And what do you give in return? You start blaming: this house has ruined me, this house has not given me progress, all are having health problems ever since we moved into this house.
Just sit down and list what harm it has done to you. Do not believe something just because a so-called Vastu specialist has told you. If you keep blaming someone for no reason, what reaction would you expect? Maybe this is what is happening with your house.
Say sorry. Start respecting your house. Start loving your house like another member of your family. It will definitely do you good.
