Why Should You Get Up Early in the Morning?

There are many habits that push Lakshmi away and invite Alakshmi. People treat these things lightly, but Lakshmidevi does not compromise on them.

Kucheli means wearing dirty or torn clothes. Call it fashion if you want, but Lakshmidevi will not stay with someone who is careless about cleanliness.

Dantamalopadhari refers to those who do not keep their teeth clean. If you cannot maintain basic hygiene, Lakshmi walks out.

Bahuasi are those who overeat. Lack of control over food is a clear sign of lack of discipline. Lakshmi does not stay there.

Nishthuravak refers to harsh and rude speech. If your words hurt others, Lakshmi keeps her distance.

There is also a very important rule: 'Suryodhye chastamye shayi' — do not lie down at sunrise or sunset. Wake up before sunrise and never sleep at sunset. If you are asleep when the sun rises, Lakshmi simply will not stay. If you are a late riser, you will not even notice where your money is going.

And here is the funny part — your financial advisor will not be able to explain it, your astrologer will not be able to pinpoint it. Everything looks fine on paper, yet money slips away. Because Lakshmi does not remain where the person sleeps through sunrise.

Atharva Veda says: 'Udhyan Suryaiva Suptanaam Dushadhaam Varcha Aadate' — when the Sun rises, he takes away the strength and fortune of those who are still asleep.

Then there are smaller habits that pile up over time.

Nityam chedastrananam — the habit of constantly tearing, breaking, or fiddling with things. Flowers, paper, leaves, whatever they touch ends up shredded. Lakshmi does not stay with restless hands.

Dharani Vilighanam — drawing lines on the ground with your toes. Poets may call it shyness, but Lakshmi calls it carelessness.

Aadayor alpam aashtihi — keeping feet unclean. Neglect of the body pushes Lakshmi away.

Dookshadhaa moordhajaanaam — leaving hair dry and untended. Today it is considered fashion to keep hair dry and unoiled, but Lakshmi rejects that.

Vivasana sajanam — sleeping without clothes. A total no for Lakshmi.

Aasaati rekaha — excessive laughter. Not joy, but loud, uncontrolled laughter that shows lack of restraint.

Svanke peetheja vaadyam — drumming on thighs, tables, or chairs. These restless habits drive Lakshmi away.

Even if you are Srihari himself, if you follow these behaviors, Lakshmi will not stay. She leaves immediately.

So avoid these habits. They look small, but they accumulate daily. That is exactly how Alakshmi enters without you noticing.

Finally, the mantra says: Maya antarayah bahyah — these internal and external causes of Alakshmi should be destroyed by the power of Bilva, whose fruits represent Lakshmidevi.

Q: Why would Lakshmi care about dirty or torn clothes? Isn't that just fashion?
A: Fashion does not impress Lakshmi. Cleanliness does. Torn and unclean clothes signal negligence. Negligence slowly becomes a lifestyle. And Lakshmi does not stay with people who treat their body and surroundings casually. Wealth dislikes disorder.

Q: How can brushing your teeth affect prosperity? It sounds exaggerated.
A: Dantamalopadhari — unclean teeth — is not about toothpaste. It is about basic self-respect. If a person cannot maintain hygiene for themselves, how can Lakshmi trust them to handle wealth, resources, or responsibilities? Wealth chooses those who respect themselves enough to stay clean.

Q: What is the logic behind overeating driving Lakshmi away?
A: Bahuasi means lack of control. Overeating shows that the person lets desire control them instead of the other way around. Lakshmi lives with discipline, not with uncontrolled consumption.

Q: Harsh speech affects money? How?
A: Nishthuravak refers to cruel words. Words build or break relationships. Wealth flows through relationships — family, clients, students, colleagues. If your speech burns bridges, Lakshmi simply sees no channels left to operate through.

Q: Why is sleeping during sunrise considered financially damaging?
A: Sunrise represents activity, clarity, and new energy. If you are asleep at that time, you are out of sync with cosmic timing. Lakshmi likes alertness and readiness. Waking late means your mind starts the day sluggish. Sluggishness leaks money in ways no chart can predict.

Q: Can astrologers or financial planners really not identify what is wrong with late risers?
A: They can measure plans, markets, and charts, but not habits that drain Lakshmi’s presence. Sunrise laziness is invisible on spreadsheets. It shows up only in subtle financial bleeding.

Q: Why does Atharva Veda say the Sun takes away strength of those asleep at sunrise?
A: Because sunrise is a cosmic roll-call. Those who are awake receive energy, clarity, and opportunity. Those who sleep miss the distribution. The Sun does not punish; he simply moves on without you.

Q: Why do restless habits like tearing paper or flowers matter spiritually?
A: Nityam chedastrananam is the mind looking for pointless stimulation. Restless hands come from restless minds. Restless minds waste time and money. Lakshmi leaves quietly when she sees lack of focus.

Q: Is drawing lines with toes really a big deal?
A: Dharani Vilighanam looks harmless, but it signals distracted attention and inner agitation. Lakshmi prefers stability, not fidgeting minds that cannot sit with themselves.

Q: What is the connection between oily hair and prosperity?
A: Dookshadhaa moordhajaanaam refers to dry, neglected hair. In old dharmic psychology, well-oiled hair symbolizes nourishment, care, and sattva. Dry neglect signals tamas, which repels Lakshmi.

Q: Why does sleeping without clothes chase Lakshmi away?
A: Vivasana sajanam is not about morality; it is about vulnerability. Lakshmi represents dignity and self-respect. Sleeping in a careless, unprotected state contradicts that energy.

Q: Excessive laughter is considered bad? Isn't joy a good thing?
A: Aasaati rekaha is not about joy. It is about loss of control. Loud, excessive laughter signals lack of boundaries. Lakshmi is drawn to dignity, not to unrestrained display.

Q: Why should one not drum on their thighs or tables? That seems harmless.
A: Svanke peetheja vaadyam again shows fidgeting and inner restlessness. Lakshmi recognizes restlessness as a sign of instability. Instability drains wealth faster than expenses do.

Q: Why does the text say even Srihari would not keep Lakshmi with such habits?
A: To make a point: Lakshmi is consistent. She respects dharma and principles, not personalities or titles. Even the greatest cannot bypass her rules.

Q: What does 'Maya antarayah bahyah' really mean in practical terms?
A: It means there are internal blockages (mind, habits, speech) and external blockages (cleanliness, discipline, timing). Bilva, symbolic of Lakshmi, is said to remove both if approached with awareness.
