In Sanatana Dharma, we always consider nature as divinity.
We worship Bhumi as Bhumi Devi.
Air, for us, is Vayu Deva.
The sun in the sky is Surya Deva for us.
River Ganga is Ganga Mata for us.
We worship Tulasi.
We worship Gomatha.
When we can do all these, why can’t we worship our motherland, Bharat Mata, as a divinity?
We should start doing this. Build temples for Bharat Mata and worship her like we worship Durga, Kali, Lakshmi, and Saraswathy.
Saraswathy Devi has a name called Bharati.
The name Bharati has, as its root, the dhatu भृ:
भृ भरणे धारणपोषणयोः
Aren’t these three things what our motherland does for us?
She administers us as a society.
She manages us as a society.
धारण (Dharana) – We live within her.
She is the support for our physical existence.
We live within her boundaries.
पोषण (Poshana) – She nourishes us through food, water, air, and knowledge.
She does all these three for us. So, Bharat Mata for us is Bharati Devi.
There are already temples dedicated to her in Varanasi, Haridwar, and Kolkata. Another one is coming up in Kurukshetra. These are the famous ones. There are smaller ones as well.
We should have more and more of them. Every locality should have one such temple.
The system of worship should be exactly as we worship Durga, Kali, and Lakshmi, with flowers, garlands, chandana, and naivedya. She is the mother, not different from Jagadamba or Jagadeeswari.
Can there be a better way to instill love and respect for our motherland in our young generation?
Can there be a better way?
