अग्निना रयिं ...........
Veda has a balanced view. Veda is not all about renunciation.
Veda recognizes the importance of all the four Purusharthas – Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. It is through observing Dharma that Moksha can be achieved. For observing Dharma, which includes supporting others, helping others, taking care of others, Artha or wealth is required.
And the wealth is to be employed conforming to principles of Dharma, and for attainment of desires that are not against the principles of Dharma.
What are these desires – for example, desire for a husband or wife, for a life partner. Vamsha Vriddhi is an important aspect of humanity. But Veda has given guidelines for Vamsha Vriddhi – it has to happen within the framework of marriage.
So, desire for a wife is within Dharma. Desire for a progeny – progeny through rightfully wedded wife is within Dharma. And desire for wealth – so that wealth for the upkeep of the family is there.
All these three are desires well within the framework of Dharma. There are also more desires, not in conflict with Dharma.
Here the prayer is for wealth – wealth that would be rightfully and righteously employed and deployed. Wealth is obtained by the blessings of Agni Deva, says the mantra.
And such wealth obtained through the blessings of divinity has another characteristic – it increases day by day – poshameva dive-dive.
And this kind of wealth gets fame. Because it will be rightfully used. Not for self-gratification, not for pampering one's own senses, not for sensual pleasures.
It will be used for helping others, it will be shared with fellow beings, it will be used for taking care of plants, trees, birds, animals.
For Dharma.
Wealth that comes through blessings will make the recipient of such wealth to do these things. And he will in turn attain fame.
This wealth will be veeryavattamam.
Someone who has such wealth – he will have a lot of people around him, as family, dependents. That is obvious. He will be willing to help and share and support.
So, there will be always people around him. Look up to him.
One principle is revealed in this mantra – wealth can be obtained by the blessings of divinity.
Three characteristics of such wealth obtained through blessings of divinity are mentioned:
One – it increases day by day.
Two – it brings fame.
Three – it will bring a lot of people around a person who has such wealth.
Always look for only this kind of wealth. Wealth that comes as a result of blessing. Wealth that comes to you blessed.
This is the only kind of wealth that can give comfort.
A lot of wealth need not give you happiness and comfort. In fact, how much also does not matter.
Wealth should come blessed. That can give you comfort, contentment and happiness.
And this kind of wealth will make you do only good things, the result of which will again give you more happiness.
Wealth that you get more than what you deserve – wealth amassed – will make one do bad things, leading to misery and trouble.
