Putana Uddhar Sthal is a famous site associated with the childhood pastimes of Lord Shri Krishna. This site is located near Mathura, in Nand Bhavan at Mahavan. Mahavan, situated near Mathura on the other bank of the Yamuna River, is considered an ancient place and is regarded as the playground of Bal Krishna. There are several small temples here, which are not very old. Due to its larger size compared to other forests, Mahavan is also known as 'Brihadvan.' In Nand Baba's mansion at Mahavan, Nand Bhavan is situated. Disguised as Mata Yashoda, Putana arrived at this site with her breasts filled with the deadly poison Kalakoot. She effortlessly lifted the infant Krishna, who was asleep in his cradle, in front of Yashoda and Rohini and began breastfeeding him. Krishna not only consumed the poison but also sucked out her life force, liberating her from her demonic form.
