Meaning:

These verses are prayers asking that all cosmic forces become auspicious and supportive in one’s life. They come from the Vedic style of invoking harmony from every direction of the universe.

Verse 1

Meaning

All the nakshatras that shine in the heavens,
those present in the vast sky, in the waters, and on the earth,
those that exist in the mountains and in all directions,
and those paths through which the Moon travels —

may all of them become auspicious and beneficial for me.

Verse 2

अष्टाविंशानि शिवानि शग्मानि सह योगं भजन्तु मे ।
योगं प्र पद्ये क्षेमं च क्षेमं प्र पद्ये योगं च नमोऽहोरात्राभ्यामस्तु ॥२॥

Meaning

May the twenty-eight auspicious nakshatras bring me prosperity and well-being together with favorable combinations.

I seek yoga (the gaining of what is needed) and kshema (the protection of what has been gained).
I seek kshema and yoga again.

My salutations to day and night.

Benefits of listening:

Listening to these verses regularly is traditionally believed to bring harmony between a person and the cosmic forces represented by the nakshatras, the Moon, day and night, and the directions. When this harmony is established, life tends to become more stable, comfortable, and peaceful.

Creates inner calm and mental balance
The verses speak about the entire universe becoming auspicious. When one listens to such prayers, the mind gradually moves away from fear and anxiety and settles into a state of trust and calmness. This mental balance itself is the foundation of a happy life.

Supports comfortable living
The prayer asks for yoga and kshema. Yoga means gaining what is needed in life. Kshema means protecting what has already been obtained. Listening to this regularly strengthens the feeling of stability — earning well, maintaining resources, and living without constant disturbance.

Harmonizes planetary and nakshatra influences
Since the verses specifically invoke nakshatras and the path of the Moon, listening to them is traditionally believed to reduce the harmful effects of unfavorable star influences and strengthen supportive ones.

Brings protection through the cycles of day and night
The verse salutes both day and night. This means protection during all times — while working, traveling, resting, or sleeping.

Encourages prosperity with peace
The prayer does not merely ask for wealth. It asks that everything become shiva — auspicious and beneficial. This means prosperity that comes with peace, stability, and family happiness.

Promotes a balanced household life
Regular listening can create a positive environment at home. Such vibrations encourage harmony among family members and support a comfortable and content household.
