One Nakshatra, Two Days – Which One Is Right for Your Birthday?
If a nakshatra comes on two days within the same solar month, then which one to take for celebrating birthday?
Here are the rules from Dharma Sindhu -
दिनद्वये जन्मनक्षत्रयोगसत्त्वासत्त्वयोरौदयिकी द्विमुहूर्ताधिका ग्राह्या ।
Look for the day where the nakshatra is present at sunrise and lasts for 96 minutes. Take that one.
द्विमुहूर्तन्यूनत्वे पूर्वा ।
If on both days, the nakshatra is less than 96 minutes, take the first one.
जन्ममासाधिमासत्त्वे शुद्धे मासे प्रत्याब्दिकवद्वर्धापनविधिर्न त्वधिके ।
If one of the two days falls in adhika masa (mala masa), avoid that.
