You can becomes famous and achieve positions only through merit and quality.

Have you seen the rabbit in the moon, the image of the rabbit on the moon?

Everyone knows about that rabbit.

But do you know how he got there?

This rabbit used to live in a forest.

He had three friends, a wild cat, a fox and a monkey.

This rabbit was very religious.

Next day was an auspicious day.

Devout people observe fasting on auspicious days.

This fasting has many benefits.

When you do this, your self control will improve.

You will feel hungry, still, you will not eat anything.

That will improve your self control.

Your will power will increase.

There are many health benefits which modern medicine has started to recognize now of fasting such as autophagy.

So, the rabbit told his friends:let’s observe fasting tomorrow.

We will fast, we will not eat anything throughout the day.

They all agreed.

But then, only you are not supposed to eat anything during fasting.

If someone comes to you asking for food, you should give. Otherwise, it becomes a sin.

You should keep food with you so that if someone comes and asks you should be able to give.

The cat went into the nearby village and got into a house.

He found some bananas.

He went near the bananas and asked aloud, three times: do these bananas belong to anyone, do these bananas belong to anyone, do these bananas belong to anyone?

Nobody answered, there was no one in the house, nobody heard him.

The cat took away the bananas to its place and kept it for the next day to give if someone comes and asks for food.

Fox also went to the village, got into a house and found some cooked rice.

He also asked aloud: does this rice belong to anyone, does this rice belong to anyone, does this rice belong to anyone?

Nobody answered.

He took the rice to his place.

The monkey went to a mango orchard nearby which belonged to farmer.

When he went there, the farmer was not there.

He asked three times aloud: do these mangos belong to anyone, do these mangos belong to anyone, do these mangos belong to anyone?

Nobody responded.

He plucked a few mangos and went home.

Unfortunately, the rabbit could not get anything.

The rabbit said: I don’t have anything to offer if a guest comes.

Anyway, I will offer my own body if it comes to that.

Next day morning, the fasting started.

All four started observing fasting.

King of Devas, Lord Indra heard about the rabbit’s decision and wanted to test him about his sincerity and honesty.

He disguised himself as an old man and came down.

First Indra went to the cat said: I am hungry, do you have anything?

Cat offered the bananas.

Indra said: I will come back later for this.

He went to the fox.

Fox offered him the rice that he had brought from the village.

Indra said: I don’t want this now, I will come back later.

Then he went to the monkey.

And said: I am hungry, give me something to eat.

Monkey gave him mangos.

Indra said: I don’t want mangos now, I will come later for them.

Then indra went to the rabbit.

Rabbit welcomed him.

Indra said: do you have anything to eat, I am hungry.

Rabbit said: sorry I haven’t kept anything.

If you want you can eat me,

Indra said : if you are serious about what you are saying, jump into that fire and cook your meat.

Rabbit did just that.

But nothing happened to him.

He didn’t get burned.

The fire didn’t harm him.

Indra asked the rabbit to come out and assumed his original form.

I am Indra, king of heaven.

I heard about your vow and wanted to test you.

I am happy that you kept your word.

Honest people are always respected and recognized.

Indra drew the image of the rabbit on the moon and said: the whole world will remember your honesty and integrity whenever they see your image on the moon.

They will all talk about you.

Why did Indra not accept whatever was offered by the cat, fox and monkey?

Because they were not truly honest, they pretended that they were being honest.

The cat he just pretended that he was being honest by calling out and asking whether the bananas belonged to anyone.

It was inside a house.

It must be somebody's property.

He just pretended; he just pretended just he is being honest by calling out.

Same with the fox and monkey also.

Honesty should be there in the heart.

It is not to exhibit to others.

Then your life will be valuable and successful.
