Why wouldn’t God answer your prayer?
Answering a prayer is natural to God. That is in God’s nature. That is why God is God.
Only such beings who are concerned about prayers being made to them, concerned about people who pray to them—become Gods. Otherwise, they can’t be gods.
If someone is blind towards suffering in people, diseases in people, he would never become a doctor.
If someone is not concerned about the plight of the underprivileged in society, he would never become a social worker.
Similarly, to be God—to stay as God—it is imperative that God listens to prayers, is concerned about prayers, and answers them if not inappropriate. As long as it is appropriate, God would answer any prayer.
Because answering prayers, granting wishes, is natural to God.
It is as much natural to God as praying is to man.
Crying out for help is natural to man. You don’t have to teach or train anyone to cry out for help.
Praying is crying out for help. This is natural to man.
And answering prayer is natural to God. It is spontaneous.
Your mobile phone rings. Your spontaneous reaction is to go for it and answer the call.
You are in a mall. Someone calls out to you. Your natural reaction is to turn back and listen.
Nobody has to teach you this.
These are natural because they are built into nature, built into creation—just as it rains during monsoon, it is hot during summer—these are all built into creation.
In the same way, God responding to prayers is natural, built into creation.
It is not a miracle. They are not isolated incidents.
You are made to think that divine intervention is a miracle. Happens once in a while, rarely.
No.
They are everyday events.
They are every moment events.
If you look at literature ever written in the history of humanity, you will realize that 99% is about divinity—
The power of divinity, how divinity protects, how divinity grants wishes, how divinity curbs evil.
Except for the past few decades, which is an aberration, where we have become a lot more self-centred—it’s a passing phase—it will correct itself.
But apart from that, if you see any culture, be it east or west, north or south—what people have most spoken about is divinity.
What people have written most about is divinity.
So, this is not some kind of invention of the mind, or invention of a class of people.
Divinity is the truth. Rather, the only truth.
Even in the most primitive cultures, in the Amazon—there are tribes who have never interacted with the modern world even once—
They also pray. They recognize God.
Their life is centred around God and prayers.
If prayers are not answered, then why are there so many prayers in the first place?
Mantras, shlokas, stotras, all kinds of rituals, in every religion—crores and crores of them.
Man has always been efficient. He wouldn’t waste so much time over something that would not work.
So it is natural for man to pray, and natural for God to answer that prayer—99 out of 100 times.
So, if God doesn’t answer your prayer, it is an exception. There could be a reason behind it.
You may be loaded with bad karma from the past.
God would want you to realize this. He wouldn’t grant your prayer—because that would make you think:
Why is God not answering my prayer?
Have I done something bad? Have I done something wrong? Not that I am aware of.
That would make you think.
Then why? Is there something I have done that I am not aware of?
Is there a past birth? Probably I have done something wrong in another birth?
This will make you think.
This will lead you to knowledge. More and more knowledge.
God would want you to realize what is good and what is bad, and develop discretion—viveka buddhi.
So He would hold Himself.
Not answer your prayer instantly—which is His natural response—so that you are made to think, correct your path, and become a better being.
So even when not answering your prayer, God is acting in your interest.
