जातवेदसे सुनवाम सोममरातीयते निदहाति वेदः।
स नः पर्षदति दुर्गाणि विश्वा नावेव सिन्धुं दुरिताऽत्यग्निः॥
तामग्निवर्णां तपसा ज्वलन्तीं वैरोचनीं कर्मफलेषु जुष्टाम्।
दुर्गां देवीँ शरणमहं प्रपद्ये सुतरसि तरसे नमः॥
Meaning:
जातवेदसे सुनवाम सोममरातीयते निदहाति वेदः।
Meaning: 'We offer Soma (a sacred offering) to Jataveda (Agni, the fire god), who knows all beings and burns away all hostilities and ignorance with his wisdom.'

Meaning: 'May Agni, like a ship that crosses over a river, help us overcome all difficulties and dangers.'

Meaning: 'I surrender to the Goddess Durga, who grants refuge. You are the one who helps us easily cross over all difficulties. I bow to your energy and power.'

When the forest fire broke out, Dhritarashtra sent Sanjaya away. Dhritarashtra, Gandhari, and Kunti died in that fire. Later, Sage Narada saw Sanjaya with some Rishis on the banks of Ganga. From there, Sanjaya went towards the Himalayas to observe tapas.
