Overcome Spiritual Flaws with Lalita Trishati

Lalita Trishati is very famous, starting with: ककाररूपा कल्याणी कल्याणगुणशालिनी ।

The 300 names of Devi Lalita Parameswari—do you know about the greatness of this stotra?

This is part of the Brahmanda Purana. Sage Hayagreeva had already given the secrets of Lalita Devi and Lalita Sahasranama to Sage Agastya. One day, Agastya went and told Hayagreeva—

Here, Agastya is the shishya, and Hayagreeva is the guru. Sage Hayagreeva is Lord Hayagreeva embodied as a rishi, or you can say an incarnation of Hayagreeva Mahavishnu Bhagawan.

Agastya said, 'You have already blessed me with a lot of knowledge about Devi Lalitambika, but there is something that is troubling me. I feel incomplete. I still don't have something—something about the Devi, which is everything about her. I know you have not given it to me.' Saying this, Agastya fell at Hayagreeva's feet and took hold of them. He wouldn't leave.

Hayagreeva was shocked.

हयाननो भीतभीतः किमिदं किमिदं त्विति ॥ ५॥ मुञ्चमुञ्चेति तं चोक्का चिन्ताक्रान्तो बभूव सः ।

'What is this? Leave me, leave me,' said Hayagreeva.

You know what? Agastya sat like that for three years, without leaving his guru's feet—for three full years. Hayagreeva became worried. He knew he had not given Agastya something that was absolutely secret. Devi had specifically instructed not to give it away.

राज्यं देयं शिरो देयं न देया षोडशाक्षरी

'Give away your kingdom if you want, give away your head if you want, but don't give this vidya away to the undeserving.'

What to do now? He was in a dilemma. Devi and Lord Shiva—Kameswari and Kameswara—appeared in the Manomandala of Hayagreeva and told him, 'You can give it to him. He deserves it. Look at his longing for it. His wife, Lopamudra, also has so much devotion towards me. You can give it to him.'

Hayagreeva felt relieved.

You can say Lalita Trishati is more secretive than Lalita Sahasranama. There are 15 alphabets in Lalita Devi's Panchadashakshari mantra. Against each of them, there are 20 names in Trishati.

Who is the author of this?

In Srividya, there is a speciality. Don't think that Srividya is just about Devi. Srividya is Devi and Shiva together—always together. If you take Sri Yantra, Bindu, Ashtadala, Shodasha Dala, and Chaturasra—these four are Shiva Chakras. Trikona, Ashtakona, two Dashakonas, and Chaturdasha Konas—these five are Shakti Chakras. But they are interconnected with each other—never separate from each other.

In the same way, in the Panchadashakshari, Kakara comes three times, Hakara comes twice—they belong to Shiva. Hreem belongs to both. The rest of the aksharas belong to Devi.

In the same way, in the stutis also—wherever Devi is to be praised, Lord Shiva does that. Wherever Devi is to be praised, the Lord does that. When they are to be praised together, they do it together. So the authorship of Trishati also follows this rule. These are all secrets associated with Trishati.

Trishati's actual name is Sarvapurtikari. In Saparya Upasana, there can be faults and shortcomings. Trishati completes everything, takes everything to perfection. Every shortfall in everything is compensated if you chant Lalita Trishati.

And they are not just names—every name among these three hundred is a mantra.

Do you know when Lalita Trishati comes into someone's life? In their last birth. If you know Lalita Trishati, Lalita Trishati has come into your life—rest assured that this is your last birth. No more births for you. Moksha is assured for you.

यस्य नो पश्चिमं जन्म यदि वा शङ्करः स्वयम्। तेनैव लभ्यते विद्या श्रीमत्पञ्चदशाक्षरी

Chanting one name of Trishati once is equivalent to chanting Sahasranama a crore times.

The rishis of Lalita Sahasranama are the Vagdevis, such as Vashini. Trishati is told by Kamesi and Kamesha themselves—you can imagine its power.
