Once, in a forest, a tiger was sitting near a river.
To every passerby, the tiger said : I want to donate a golden bangle, please come take it.
All the animals that passed by ignored the tiger.
Then came a man.
The moment he heard golden bangle, greed came into him.
A golden bangle, that too for free!
This is the difference between man and animals.
Animals would take only what they need and only as much as they need.
Man only wants to amass.
See for yourself, all around you.
You have got so many things that you don’t really need, you have hardly ever used.
Still, we go on buying things that we use once or twice and then throw away.
Do you think that is the right thing to do?
Other than us humans, no other animal or bird or plant on planet earth would take what it doesn’t need, we only do this.
Nature’s resources are for everyone, belong to everyone.
We have no right to take and keep with us more than what we need.
So, from today, let’s stop getting unwanted things.
Out of all those went by, only man wanted to get the golden bangle, the others did not even bother.
The man thought : isn’t it risky?
What if the tiger eats me if I go near him?
But then he thought nothing great in life can be achieved if you are not willing to take risk.
If you want to be wealthy and prosperous, you have to take risk also.
So, he told the tiger: first, you show me the bangle.
The tiger was really having a bangle with him.
The greed of the man increased.
Why are you giving it for free?
Aren’t you a man eater?
Are you not trying trap me?
I have heard that all tigers are man eaters.
The tiger said: don’t believe what others say, people just go on repeating what they hear.
They don’t apply their mind.
But good people, they always like to give to others, share with others.
Earlier, I was very bad tiger.
I have killed a lot of animals and men.
But then, I read the holy books and realized that it is not good.
I started repenting for whatever wrong I have done.
Now, I want to live the rest of my life as a good tiger.
So, I decided to do charity, to share with others whatever I have, to help others in need.
The man was convinced.
Tiger said: I will get punya out of this charity only if it is done in the proper way.
And scriptures say that the recipient should purify himself by taking bath before accepting anything in charity.
Now, you please take bath and come to me.
The greedy man got into the river.
There was a lot of mud in the river.
His legs got stuck in it and he was not able to come out.
The tiger slowly started walking towards him.
The man exclaimed: but you said you have changed.
You have said stopped harming others.
Tiger said: what to do?
I read so many scriptures, but my basic nature doesn’t change.
Whenever I feel hungry I need to eat meat.
We should understand that nature of a person supersedes everything else.
Before making friends with people, we should try to understand what their basic nature is.
If that person can hurt and harm others, someday he or she can hurt and harm you also.
Don’t jump into things without proper thinking.
Before you take every step in your life, think properly, am I doing the right thing?
Am I doing it the right way?
