Bhagavan Takes An Avatara Just To Make A Devotee Couple Happy

Bhagavan Takes An Avatara Just To Make A Devotee Couple Happy

We saw two reasons, among hundreds, or even thousands or lacs,
why Lord Rama took avatara on earth.

One was to refine his own guards Jaya and Vijaya – whom he had made to take birth as Ravana and Kumbhakarna.
And another, to hold high the greatness of Pativratya – by accepting a curse from the parama sadhwi Vrinda.

One more reason,
a much simpler reason: a devotee asked, so he took avatara.
Just to satisfy the simple wish of a simple devotee.
He doesn’t need big serious reasons to take avatara, or do anything for that matter.

You know Swayambhuva Manu and Shatarupa were the first man and woman.
The entire humanity originated from Manu and Shatarupa couple.
He was the first king.

After handing over the kingdom to his son after ruling for several years as per dharma and establishing and maintaining dharma, Manu realized that he had not yet attained perfection as a human being.
He was a perfect king, but not yet a perfect human being.

So King Manu handed over his kingdom to his son and went to Naimisharanya along with Shatarupa to observe tapas.
They joined the rishis and munis there, wore valkala like them and started living like them.
They also did the chanting of Dwadashakshari mantra of Lord Vasudeva.

Do you know that out of the 12 letters in Dwadashakshari mantra, six represent the Lord and the other six Lakshmi Devi?
There is one more thing. There are two kinds of Dwadashakshari mantra.
Mantra is the same, but the swaroopa of the Lord is different.
One is the normal Vasudeva, the Chaturbahu which we are normally aware of.
The other is called Para Vasudeva,
in which the Lord had got only two hands and his weapons are not the regular ones – they are arrows and bow.

It is this form that Manu and Shatarupa meditated upon.
Their tapas was very intense.
For six thousand years they had only water.
For the next seven thousand years, only drinking air.
For the next ten thousand years, even that they stopped.
And standing on one leg they observed tapas.

The Trimurthys came to them several times, telling them to ask for boons.
Understand that Vishnu among Trimurthys is one aspect of Sri Hari Paramatma, who takes care of sustenance of the created universe.
All three – Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva – are three limited aspects of the same Paramatma.

So they came to Manu and Shatarupa several times, telling them to ask for boons.
Intense tapas generates a lot of heat. This will start affecting others also – the whole creation it will affect.
That’s why the Trimurthys wanted to give them boons and end the tapas.

Since they didn’t relent, the Lord Sri Hari Paramatma realized that they were very sincere devotees and gave them darshan in that two-handed form with bow and arrows, as Para Vasudeva.
They just fell at his feet, held on to his feet.
The Lord lifted them up and said, 'Ask for whatever you want.'

'What else can we ask for?
This itself is sufficient. Your darshan itself is sufficient.
What else can we ask for?
But, now after seeing you, there is a small wish that has come to the mind.
We don’t know whether we should be even asking you this.
We can’t imagine our joy if we are blessed with a son like you.'

'Why like me? I will myself take birth as your son.'

See the kindness of the Lord.
This is what he does for a true devotee.
If you ask for ten, he will give you a thousand.

'Now go to Swarga, because you have to enjoy the pleasures as a result of the punya you have gained through tapas.
Be there.
After some time, you will take birth again as the king of Ayodhya, as Dasharatha, and you as his queen Kausalya.
That time I will take birth as your own son – as Rama.'

See how the Lord rewards true bhakti.
An entire avatara to give joy to a devotee couple.
