Shiva Linga

We have seen how worship of Shiva Linga can give moksha. Shiva Linga has both Shiva tatwa and Shakti tatwa in it. The Linga portion is Shiva tatwa. The peetha is Shakti tatwa. We have seen how worship of Shiva Linga can give moksha.
Shiva Linga has both Shiva tatwa and Shakti tatwa in it.
The Linga portion is Shiva tatwa.
The peetha is Shakti tatwa.
They are called Nada and Bindu in agama shastra and tantra.
At the time of creation, Shakti emanates from Shiva.
At the time of dissolution, Shakti dissolves back into Shiva.
Both these are present in Shiva Linga as Ardha-nareeswara.
Moksha is dissolution, merging into the supreme.
If you worship Shiva Linga, this merging happens.
Another interesting way to understand the creation of the universe is through the concept of pregnancy.
We normally associate pregnancy with womanhood.
That is at our level.
Even purusha can be pregnanat.
When you contain something inside the belly it is called garbha.
If you just reverse the order of the letters in garbha, it becomes bharga who is Bharga?
Shiva.
Garbha - bharga.
Prakriti is of two types, avyakta and vyakta.
Vyakta is what we experience around us: the trees, plants, mountains, animals, people, and buildings.
The state before that is avyakta.
You compare this to a computer.
When the computer is on there are images on the screen. There are processes happening inside.
There is sound, music.
The printer is working.
This is the state of vyakta.
When you switch off the computer, it has the potential to do all these. But it is not at work.
This is the state of avyakta.
So it is said prakriti takes birth twice.
Avyakta-prakriti is in the womb of Shiva.
From there the avykata-prakriti takes birth.
The vyakta-prakriti, the world as we expeirnce, the vyakta-prakriti is in the womb of avyakta-prakriti.
From there the vyakta-prakriti takes birth.
So prakriti takes birth twice.
Do you know why jeeva is called jeeva? Jeevatma is called jeevatma?
जीर्यते जन्मकालाद्यत् तस्माज्जीव इति स्मृतः the term jeeryate has come from the root जृष वयोहानौ.
We think that when a child is born it is living.
No in fact it is dying.
The count-down clock starts the moment the child is born.
Every moment the child is moving closer to its death.
So it is the other way round.
Living means dying.
There is one more thing about jeeva.
As the child grows, it becomes more and more dependent. More and more bound.
Compulsions in life become more and more.
Loss of freedom is more and more. Day by day.
Jeeva's two characteristics are perpetual dying and perpetually getting bound.
जन्मपाशनिवृत्यर्थं जन्मलिङ्गं प्रपूजयेत् understand this and worship ShivaLinga.
You will be free from both rebirth and bondage.
Becasue Shiva is garbhavan.
Prakriti is in his garbha.
In his control.
Worship of Shiva Linga can give happiness.
Do you know how?
There is a particular way to do this.
Take a normal family.
If the son or daughter takes care of the parents.
Treats them with love and affection. Spends time with them.
Talks to them.
Then day by day their affection towards the son or daughter also increases.
They will be more than ready to give them whatever they have.
This is quite natural.
Let's say there are two sons.
One of them goes to a foreign land in pursuit of his career.
Doesn't even bother to call the parents.
He is in his own self-centered life.
The other son stays back with the parents.
Takes care of them.
When the time to write the will comes, of course, the one who takes care of the parents gets the best.
Some parents may not actually do it, for the fear of getting accused of partiality.
But their heart will be with the son who is with them.
This is a fact of life.
If you want happiness, worship Shiva Linga, take care of Shiva Linga, and do service to Shiva Linga thinking that Shiva is your father and Parvathy is your mother.
Shiva Linga is both your father and mother.
Of course, Shiva is the father of the entire universe.
Devi is the mother of the entire universe.
They are your father and mother as well.
If you worship Shiva Linga with this bhavana every day, then their affection towards you also will keep on increasing, day by day.
They will become partial towards you.
They will give you the best that they have.
What is that? Ananda, happiness.
That is their best asset.
That they will give to you.
Happiness throughout life.
