In the battlefield of Kurukshetra, Bhishmacharya gave the thousand names of Lord Vishnu.
This became famous as Vishnu Sahasranama.
But as Bhismacharya went on saying these names, all were just listening with eyes closed.
Nobody was writing them down or even memorizing them.
After they opened their eyes, Yudhishtira was the first one to realize this.
He asked: has anyone noted this down?
No.
Yudhishtira asked Krishna: can you please recollect?
No.
Even I was totally absorbed in it.
But Krishna gave a solution.
Sahadeva was wearing a sphatika (crystal).
Sphatika absorbs and stores sound waves around it.
It would have stored the Sahasranama also.
Lord Krishna told Sahadeva to meditate upon Lord Shiva.
When he did that, he could hear the names ‘recorded’ in the sphatika being played back.
Then they were noted down.
The same were made eternal by Sage Vyasa in his Mahabharata.
The Earth is upheld by four pillars: compassion, humility, helpfulness, and self-control. These qualities are essential for maintaining balance and harmony in the world. By cultivating these traits, individuals contribute to a better society and achieve personal growth. Embracing compassion fosters empathy; humility removes arrogance; helpfulness promotes selfless service, and self-control ensures disciplined living. Together, these virtues create a strong foundation for a balanced and meaningful life.
Lord Narasimha chose Ahobilam as His abode because it was here that He vanquished the demon Hiranyakashipu. Following this event, Prahlada, son of Hiranyakashipu and a staunch devotee of Lord Vishnu, prayed to Lord Narasimha to make Ahobilam His permanent residence. Responding to Prahlada’s sincere prayers, Lord Narasimha blessed the place by making it His abode. Knowing why Lord Narasimha chose Ahobilam as His abode deepens your spiritual insight, inspires devotion, and enriches pilgrimage experiences.
