Learn how Malviya Ji was inspired by the simple living of a wealthy man.
Adhira was a king who became an evil spirit after his death. He had given death sentence to an innocent woman and destroyed a Shiva Temple. These were the offences because of which he had to become an evil spirit and suffer. He worshiped Lord Shiva and begged for his pardon. The Lord gave him relief and made him his own attendant. ( Padma Purana. Pathala Khanda. Chapter 111 )
In Sanskrit, Gana (गणः) means group and Isha (ईशः) means the Lord. Ganesha means the Lord of groups. In Vedic philosophy, everything exists in groups. For example: 11 Rudras, 12 Adityas, 7 seas, 5 sensory organs, 4 Vedas, 14 worlds, etc. Ganesha is the ruler of all such groups which means that he is the Lord of everything.

Pt. Malviya played a key role in setting up Kashi Vishwa Vidyalaya, the world famous Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
This was in the year 1916.
BHU at that time was the largest residential University of Asia itself.
And one of the largest in the world.
There were about 40,000 students then.
Pt.Malviya became the Vice Chancellor of BHU from 1919 to 1938.
He was a reformer.
He was an educationist.
And he focused on promoting modern education.
Pt.Malviya was collecting funds for setting up the university.
He visited Rangoon in collection with this.
Rangoon is in Burma.
Those days, there were many rich merchants of Indian origin in Rangoon.
He visited the home of one such merchant who was well known for his affluence.
But when he went there, what he found was a simple modest house instead of a mansion.
He went inside and saw a man in simple clothes sitting on the floor in one of the rooms.
The man welcomed Pt. Malviya and politely enquired who he was.
Malaviyaji said: I have come to meet Sethji, the head of this family.
Do you know where the term Seth or Sethji came from?
It is from Sanskrit Shreshthi.
Shreshthi means affluent in sanskrit.
So Malviyaji was looking for the Sethji, and the man said: I am the one you are looking for.
Malviyaji was surprised seeing his humble modest way.
He said: we are setting up a university in Kashi and I have come looking for financial help.
The man silently went inside and came back with a check for five lacs of rupees.
You know how valuable five lacs was in those days?
Easily fifty crores or more.
Then he said: this is what I am able to do right now, but in future if you need anything do not hesitate to get back to me.
Malviyaji was surprised both by his behaviour and the contribution.
Malviyaji asked him: can you please tell me in spite of being blessed with so much wealth, how come you are living such a simple life?
The man said: this is what my teachers taught me when I was young.
Even if you become rich one day, do not give up simplicity.
Simplicity is one of the biggest assets anyone can have.
Being simple is a big strength.
Malviyaji told him: I am amazed, you deserve to be remembered along with Gods in the morning every day.
That is how simplicity simple living is recognized as a virtue even by great people like Pt.Malviyaji.
Even you when you become successful in your career, successful in your life, earn a lot of money, live a simple life that will give you a lot of satisfaction and happiness.
