*Meaning of Sri Venkatesha Mangalashasanam*

श्रियः कान्ताय कल्याणनिधये निधयेऽर्थिनां
श्रीवेङ्कटनिवासाय श्रीनिवासाय मङ्गलम् ॥ १॥

Glory to the spouse of Shree Devi, the abode of everything auspicious, and the treasure of everything for those in need. Glory to Sree Venkata Nivasa, Sreenivasa.

लक्ष्मी सविभ्रमालोक सुभ्रूविभ्रम चक्षुषे
चक्षुषे सर्वलोकानां वेङ्कटेशाय मङ्गलम् ॥ २॥

His eyes are always in awe; they look surprised every time they gaze upon Lakshmi Devi. His eyes are well adorned by beautiful eyebrows. He is the eye of the universe. Being Suryanarayana, he is the eye of the universe. Glory to Sree Venkatesa.

श्रीवेङ्कटाद्रि शृङ्गाङ्ग्र मङ्गलाभरणाङ्घ्रये
मङ्गलानां निवासाय वेङ्कटेशाय मङ्गलम् ॥ ३॥

His feet adorn the peak of Venkatadri. They look like an ornament there. He is the abode of all auspiciousness. Glory to him.

सर्वावयव सौन्दर्यसम्पदा सर्वचेतसां
सदा सम्मोहनायास्तु वेङ्कटेशाय मङ्गलम् ॥ ४॥

His beauty is mesmerizing; it has been captivating everyone all the time. Every organ of his is full and complete in every respect. Glory to Shree Venkatesha.

नित्याय निरवद्याय सत्यानन्दचिदात्मने
सर्वान्तरात्मने श्रीमद्वेङ्कटेशाय मङ्गलम् ॥ ५॥

He is eternal, without beginning and end. He is spotless, without blemish, the ultimate truth, ananda, and awareness. That is him alone. He is the antaratma in every being. Glory to Sri Venkatesha.

स्वतस्सर्वविदे सर्व शक्तये सर्वशेषिणे
सुलभाय सुशीलाया वेङ्कटेशाय मङ्गलम् ॥ ६॥

He is omniscient, all-knowing—knowledge to him is natural. He does not have to learn anything like the rest of us. Omnipotent, all-powerful, the savior of all. Glory to him.

परस्मै ब्रह्मणे पूर्णकामाय परमात्मने
प्रयुञ्जे परतत्त्वाय वेङ्कटेशाय मङ्गलम् ॥ ७॥

He is the para brahma, from which everything has originated. He is purnakama—only his will, whatever he desires, and all that he wills and desires alone are achieved. And he is the para tatva. Glory to Lord Venkatesha.

आकाल तत्त्वमश्रान्तं आत्मना मनुपश्यतां
अतृप्तामृतरूपाय वेङ्कटेशाय मङ्गलम् ॥ ८॥

People behold him, forgetting time and their whereabouts. They never tire of this. No matter how much they drink the amruta that is him, they are never satisfied. Glory to Shree Venkatesha.

प्रायस्स्वचरणौ पुंसां शरण्यत्वेन पाणिना
कृपयाऽऽदिशते श्रीमद्वेङ्कटेशाय मङ्गलम् ॥ ९॥

He points towards his feet as the ashraya. With his own hand, he shows the way. Glory to Shree Venkatesha.

दयामृत तरङ्गिण्यास्तरङ्गैरिव शीतलैः
अपाङ्गैः सिञ्चते विश्वं वेङ्कटेशाय मङ्गलम् ॥ १०॥

His kataksha is like a cool wave—a wave of kindness that soothes the world. With such cool glances, again and again, he comforts the world. Glory to Shree Venkatesha.

स्रग्भूषाम्बर हेतीनां सुषमावह मूर्तये
सर्वार्तिशमनायास्तु वेङ्कटेशाय मङ्गलम् ॥ ११॥

Why does someone wear an ornament? To enhance beauty. In Bhagawan’s case, he enhances the beauty of his garlands, his clothes, and his weapons. He is the remover of all troubles. Glory to Shree Venkateswara.

श्रीवैकुण्ठविरक्ताय स्वामिपुष्करिणीतटे
रमया रममाणाय वेङ्कटेशाय मङ्गलम् ॥ १२॥

Perhaps he has become bored of Vaikuntha. That is why he has come here, to the banks of Swami Pushkarini, and he is enjoying himself here with Rama, Goddess Lakshmi.

श्रीमत्सुन्दरजामातृमुनिमानसवासिने
सर्वलोकनिवासाय श्रीनिवासाय मङ्गलम् ॥ १३॥

Jamatru Muni refers to Manavala Mamunigal. He is always in the thoughts of Manavala Mamunigal, and at the same time, he is also present all over the universe. Glory to Shree Venkatesha.

मङ्गलाशासनपरैर्मदाचार्य पुरोगमैः
सर्वैश्च पूर्वैराचार्यैः सत्कृतायास्तु मङ्गलम् ॥

He is the lord worshiped by my acharya and his predecessors. Not only my acharya and his predecessors, but he is also worshiped by every acharya of the past. Glory to him. Glory to Shree Venkatesha.
