In Shiva Purana, we have been seeing special anushtanas yielding great benefits.
We have seen for the main Devatas which days of the year are important.
Then the importance of the lunar month Kartika.
in Margashirsha, anna dana is very auspicious.
You can achieve all your desires with this.
This is particularly beneficial for warding off the ill effects of bad karma done in the past, for health, knowledge, and all kinds of enjoyments.
Do puja in the morning during Margasheersha at least for three days.
You will get a lot of enjoyments.
Now, solar month Dhanus.
Dana of salt, iron, sesame oil, black gram, medicinal herbs, medicinal fruits called Trikatu, Chandana, and water - these are very auspicious during the month of Dhanus.
Dawn puja during Dhanurmasa is very good, the time before sunrise.
Cooked rice is auspicious for naivedya during Dhanurmasa.
Also chitranna, like lemon rice, and coconut rice.
in Dhanurmasa, the best time for puja is up to about two and a half hours from sunrise.
If you desire moksha, during the entire Dhanurmasa you should chant Gayatri up to noon time and thereafter till the time going to sleep mantras such as Panchakshara.
Never leave Dhanurmasa empty, meaning some spiritual act you have to do during Dhanurmasa.
If you are not initiated into Gayatri then do Panchakshara throughout the time you are awake.
While doing this, take bath thrice a day.
This will get you knowledge.
There is something called mahanaivedya.
It is a kind of anna danam, very auspicious during Dhanurmasa.
These are approximate quantities to be used in the preparation of maha naivedya -
rice 100 kg
pepper - 750 grams
honey - 2 and a half kg
ghee - 2 and a half kg
green gram - 12 kg
12 kinds of vegetables
modaka and apoopa made with rice and ghee - 12 each
milk and curd - 10 kg each
12 coconuts
These are the ingredients for the naivedya.
This should be first offered in puja along with tamboola.
In tamboola, 36 betel leaves, 12 areca nuts, karpoor, and five fragrant herbs like cardamom, clove, etc.
After offering these in puja, they should be distributed among devotees.
if you do this you will get rulership.
You will become like a king.
You will attain a place in Swargaloka.
If you do this 1000 times, then you will attain Satyaloka.
You can do this on other days also, not necessarily Dhanurmasa.
Doing this 3600 times, there is no more rebirth.
This is called maha purna janma naivedya.
This can be done on your birthday or in the solar month of Kanya also.
Shiva sayujya will be obtained.
Lord Shiva will give mukti if you do this.
So among all the months of the year, lunar months Karthika and Margasheersha and solar month Dhanus are very very important.
